Post by coon trapper on Wed Feb 22, 2012 11:07 am

Hey guys i would like to try and catch a few mink this season yet and was wondering what do i look for when trapping mink?

Where do i need to put sets ?

and what kind of sets does everyone use ? ,,and also what is a good bait?

So if you have ever caught a mink let me know how you caught him

Thanks guys

Well I dont trap just allot of mink but i catch a few every season

Most of my mink are caught in blind sets where i think that he will be going or where i can see he is going

you have to put out allot of traps to catch a few every day

look for logs in the water, tipped over tree with roots sticking out any kind of trail beside the creek up in the weeds , if you find a mink trail be sure to set it up!

Mink trails are verry faint sometimes you can barely see them they look just like rabbit trails

Just set your traps and hope for the best

Thanks ohio

i have this one section of a creek and there is a log jam covering it and in the middle there is an opening mabey wide enough to hold a #220 would mink and muskrats be slipping through there??

I have seen a few mink close around to this log jam.

I will try to look for a few mink trails in the weeds beside the creek

Also i just checked in the archives and awhile back i copy and pasted a article on mink trapping .. forgot i posted it lol

Thanks again ohio!

well coon trapper I would put a trap in that opening but its hard to say if a mink will be going through there .. he might go through there once every two weeks or he might go through there every other day it just depends on what his habbits are ___

I would try to put a mink box baited with fresh rabbit or muskrat on the log jam also put in a few blind sets by the log jam

Just put out a few traps and see what happens

good luck coon!
